Ruben Amorim focusing on Chelsea meeting despite Europa League final on horizon

The starting line -up of Manchester United for Friday's Premier League match in Chelsea will not be influenced by the upcoming Europa League final, but players who are susceptible to injuries will not be risking, said Ruben Amorim manager.

United will play Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League -final next Wednesday in Bilbao with both clubs knowing that winning the trophy is their only hope to qualify for next season's Champions League after they left them in the rankings 16th and 17th respectively.

“If there is a player who can (and is) an injury cannot recover for this game, so (play on Friday) will give him the risk of the final, he will not play,” Amorim told reporters.

“But if it's not that situation, we will have a lot of time to recover. We can't spend eight days, nine days without a game. That's a bad thing for the final, so I think they will be prepared for the game.

“It is best to prepare the final to play the game. The players must understand that if you play or do not play against Chelsea, this means nothing for the final, that is important.”

United has a defense injury with Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven who are not performing in Chelsea, but Amorim said that Jonny Evans and Toby Collyer have returned to training.

But the Portuguese manager refused to say whether the line -up to Chelsea would be comparable to the person he is planning to place in the final.

“I don't know. I know that the beginning 11 I think for Chelsea, then I'll see it,” he said.

“Even the way we play there, against Chelsea, I will see it and it will be important for the next one.”
