Joe Rogan said that every hunter should strive to have Paul Craig's guardian
Since debuting in the UFC in 2016, the ability of Paul Craig to finish opponents has seen him write his name in the history books.
The Scottish competitor is in second place for the most performance of the night bonuses in the history of UFC (8) and has the second most entries in UFC Light Heavyweight History (6).
In nine UFC victories, he has submitted Magomed Ankalaev, Jamahal Hill and Nikita Krylov, among others, thanks to his ability to catch opponents.
All three of those victories came when opponents wanted to dominate 'Bearjew' from the top until they were caught in one of his many submission attempts.
In a previous episode of the JRE MMA show from last year, Joe Rogan said that every hunter should try to have an equally dangerous guard as Craig, in particular referring to the victory over Ankalaev from 2018, which remains the only career defeat of the current champion.
“Paul Craig has one of the most dangerous guards in every F— Division, period, period, full stop. Remember that he caught Ankalaev with a second to go into the fight. A second to go, he catches him in a triangle.
“That is how good his guard is. His guard is sensational. His guard is where everyone's guard must strive to be.”
Paul Craig admits that he is fighting for his place on the Roster at UFC Vegas 106
At UFC Vegas 106, Paul Craig returns to the light heavyweight division to fight against Rodolfo Bellato after a three-fighting series in the middleweight.
The 37-year-old admitted during Fight Week that he is probably fighting to keep his UFC career alive on 17 May.
“Losing them is not a shame, but it is difficult to pick yourself up from three losses because this sport is about entertainment and if you are not entertaining and not win, the UFC does not have the right to keep you and I know that myself.
“I have no illusion that a loss on Saturday evening might lead that I don't have a UFC contract on Monday morning.”
As Craig continued, he is known to perform at his best when his back is against the wall.
The last time his career was at stake, he pulled one of the best comebacks in the UFC history and served the current light heavyweight champion with another second on the clock.
