Salah urges Liverpool fans to back Alexander-Arnold after ‘harsh’ Arsenal reception

Mohamed Salah has not had Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool supporters on Liverpool supporters in the remaining games of the season before leaving Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid at the end of the campaign to a free transfer, was hunted in his first performance since he announced that he would leave Liverpool last week.

The international of England replaced Conor Bradley in the 67th minute of the 2-2 draw of the Reds with Arsenal in Anfield and was hunted by some parts of the home support.

Alexander-Arnold has made 352 performances for Liverpool in all competitions, scored 23 goals and recorded an amazing 92 assists.

The 26-year-old has registered more assists (64) than any other defender in the Premier League history, four more than teammate Andy Robertson in second place.

Leighton Baines (85) is the only player who has more target contributions with defenders in the English top flight than Alexander-Arnold (82).

And Salah does not believe that Alexander-Arnold is criticized because of his decision to look for a new challenge away from Merseyside.

“I think the fans were somehow hard against him,” Salah told Gary Neville in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports.

“He didn't earn it at the time, he earned the fans to treat him the best possible way because he gave it all to the fans.

“We should not act in this way with someone who always appreciates the people who have even come here for six months.

'Imagine that someone has been giving you everything for 20 years. It should not be the case.

“I hope that will change the next game, against Brighton or in the last game of the season, because he deserves goodbye. I really love him.

“I think he deserves the best farewell, the club leaves. He has done a lot for the city and did a lot for the club, and he is one of the best players in the history of the club.

“He gave it all. I think he needed a new challenge. He spoke about it with me. It is certainly his decision. He is 26 years old and won it all two or three times.

“What else could he have done? I really wish him the best. I will always have contact with him. “

Prior to Brighton's face on Monday, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was also asked what the future will look like without Alexander-Arnold in his ranks.

The Reds are linked to a movement for Bayer Leverkusen Full-back Jeremie Frimpong, with reports that suggest that Liverpool is willing to activate his release clause of £ 30 million.

Clock, however, the situation remained tight, which suggests that his team is well equipped to handle the departure of Alexander-Arnold.

“It will be a boring answer,” said Slot. “Throughout the season it was about contract extensions, and now we arrive at a time when everyone wants to know who we bring in.

“We don't talk about the players we want to take with us until they have signed for us, and then you can ask me everything you want.

“What I can tell you is that we already have Conor Bradley, who can play really well in that position.

“Joe Gomez has also played in that position several times, so it's not like once Treent leaves, I have no idea what to do.

“But as a club we always look at interesting players who can strengthen our team.”
