Dricus du Plessis spread ‘false rumor’ about Khamzat Chimaev, says UFC legend

UFC Middleweight Champion Dric Du Plessis is on a collision path with the unbeaten Khamzat Chimaev in 2025.

Dana White recently announced some large UFC fights, including big news about the title photos of the lightweight, welterweight and middleweight.

The next defense for the KingPin of 185 pounds is planned, confronted with Du Plessis on August 16 with Chimaev in the main event of UFC 319 in Chicago.

It is not surprising, given the preference for the waste of both men, the back and forth has started.

However, a former UFC hunter thinks that the South African benefited from a lie in a recent Jibe with his upcoming challenger.

Chael Sonnen responds to Dricus du Plessis who mocked Khamzat Chimaev's History of Canculated Fighting

Shortly after confirming Du Plessis vs Chimaev, Nassourdine Imavov was announced as the back -up hunter. The Frenchman will withdraw if a injury, illness or another factor will prevent one of the two man from reaching the cage on 16 August.

The champion responded to the news on social media. Du Plessis mocked Chimaev's earlier health problems by making a joke that the back -up status of Imavov means that he will certainly fight on UFC 319.

Former UFC title Challenger Chael Sonnen brought that during a recent YouTube video, which explained why the joke of Du Plessis contributed to a continuous 'false rumor'.

“DRICUS took the position that Imavov says a back -uper and Dricus considered that an announcement that he will defend his title against Imavov later this year because he believes that Chimaev – who has a history of taking out fighting – will continue to be true to form and to pull out and pull out.

“That is a bit of a false rumor – that whole idea that Chimaev had to withdraw from a number of fights,” Sonnen continued. “When the pandemic struck, Chimaev never thought he would fight again … he was in a fan.

“In extreme cases such as that, I don't know that we will stay hanging five years later and use that to pierce the veil of the flawless credibility of this guy.”

Khamzat Chimaev has had six canceled fights in the UFC

Although Chimaev has risen to star row in the UFC and his perfect MMA record has expanded to 14-0 in the promotion, he has difficulty striking a consistent run of fighting.

The Chechen Jager started his career on the biggest stage of the sport in a rapid way and won three fights in three months, but his subsequent five fights have come during the five -year period.

A diagnosis of COVID-19 threatened to reduce Chimaev's career and further health problems have led to extensive dismissals.

Among the six canceled battles for 'Borz' in the UFC were three planned games with Leon Edwards, a pay-per-view main event with Nate Diaz and a resorting competition with Paulo Costa.

Chimaev will hope that his problems that reach the Octagon are a thing of the past, especially if he is preparing for the start of a potential title line with 185 pounds.
