Two Premier League clubs are in conversation to sign Lille striker Jonathan David, according to a report.
The Canadian attacker, who scored 25 goals this season in 48 performances, confirmed this week that he will leave for free as soon as his contract ends this summer.
“Every story has a start and an end,” said the striker in a video on Instagram.
“I wanted to tell you that after many years in the club it is time for me to say goodbye.”
Now both Aston Villa and Tottenham are fighting to sign David after they have had conversations with him according to L'Equipe
Both clubs, however, are confronted with competition from the Serie A, with Napoli and Juventus also the attacker.
David came to Lille from the Belgian Zijgent in 2020 and scored 109 goals in 231 games.
He won the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21, the first victory of the club in a decade and the only time that it has escaped in Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight seasons.
The 25-year-old has represented Canada 61 times and bought 32 goals.
He plays his last match for Lille against Reims on Saturday in their last league match of the campaign.
The attacker said earlier that his favorite destination would be Spain, after he had previously been linked to movements on Arsenal and Manchester United.
Speaking with the hot soccer podcast, he said: 'I think I can adapt to any competition. Every competition has its differences.
'The Premier League is a lot faster and more physically than all other competitions. But for me I grew up watching a lot of La Liga and for me that would be my favorite competition.
“That is the competition that I would like to watch the most, so one day I would like to play there.”
