Jamie Vardy scored his 200th goal in his 500th Leicester match, because the Foxes legend was suitable for one last time in Blue.
The striker will not occur in Leicester's last match of the campaign, on 25 May in Bournemouth, which means that Sunday's game against Ipswich in the King Power Stadium draws the curtains on his 13-year-old chapter in the club.
To open the score, Vardy led a nice low finish along Ipswich goalkeeper Alex Palmer, before he ended in the celebration, where he pulled the corner flag out of the ground and kept in the air for the home fans.
Although he now has nine goals this period, Vardy Leicester was unable to save from relegation. The Foxes will immediately return to the championship after a gloomy campaign.
And despite interest from different clubs in the second level, Vardy is focused on staying at the highest level, with the Premier League his preference after he leaves Leicester.
Asked if he wanted to stay with the elite, the 38-year-old said this week: 'Yes, 100 percent. But again, football is a crazy world. So you never know what will happen. I am always enthusiastic about what will come next.
'I always said that I will continue until my legs literally tell me, no, you have to stop, we are ready. And my legs are fine, “he told Sky Sports.
After playing 500 games for Leicester, Vardy made the second most performances ever for the club and at that time he registered 271 target contributions. As a top scorer, he also led them to an unprecedented Premier League title in 2016, as well as the FA Cup and FA Community Shield in 2021.
The Englishman is the 15th leading scorer of all time in the Premier League history and scored in 11 straight competitions during the title-winning season of Leicester-De Most ever.
In 2019-2020 he became the oldest recipient of the Premier League Golden Boot Award in 33 years old, when he scored 23 goals.
Vardy announced his farewell at the end of last month, with his farewell message to the fans who emphasized how 'stripped' he would share the statement.
'It has been 13 incredible years in this club, with great success, some downs, but the majority of all highlights. It is finally time to call it a day that I love, but I think the timing is good, “said Vardy.
'I just want to sincerely thank you as one of you. Leicester will always have a huge place in my heart and I will ensure that I will follow in the coming years what I hope I will be even more successful for the club.
'What is this now my farewell, but you will soon see me again, I promise. Thank you.'
