Tom Aspinall reflects on Sergei Pavlovich Ko
In November 2023, Tom Aspinall received a last-minute call to combat Sergei Pavlovich opposite UFC 295.
The Russian phenomenon had picked up six consecutive KO victories of the first round to settle as the best competition of the heavyweight division.
Yet Aspinall only needed 69 seconds to turn him cold when they fought for the interim gold.
“Probably Pavlovich,” he said when he was asked to call his favorite KO during a recent interview with Fightroom.
“I took the fight in the short term, I was not in shape, flew all over the world. Like, everything was against me in that fight and I still managed to do it.
“At that time, Pavlovich was on a six-field, first round knockout streak.
“He just broke everyone. So I definitely think Pavlovich.”
Tom Aspinall is tired of waiting for Jon Jones
Tom Aspinall played Curtis Blaydes in 60 seconds to defend his interim rim on UFC 304 last July.
Since then he has been waiting on the sidelines for the chance to prove that he is MMA's best heavyweight.
Aspinall recently admitted that he had 'enough' to wait around Jones, who seems to do everything he can do to postpone their matchup.
“Oh, I'm bored. I had had enough,” he said.
“I think we should fight if I should go further and do something else and as I said, I will find out.
“Literally, today is the day I have waited for 3-4 months and I'm going to discover it today.”
