UFC legend reveals the real reason why Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre prematurely retired

UFC legend Chael Sonen has claimed that the reason why Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre retired prematurely was due to brutal weight reductions.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's retirement of the UFC in 2020 after a dominant victory over Justin Gaethje came a huge shock, given that he was still in the prime of his career.

Similarly, when Georges St-Pierre withdrew from the sport for the first time in 2013 after a victory over Johnny Hendricks, fans were shocked because he was only 32 years old.

Both hunters are included in the biggest conversations of all time, especially GSP given the records he owns in the UFC Welterweight Division.

Chael Sonnen claims that brutal weight reductions resulted in the retirement of Khabib and St-Pierre

Several reasons have been put forward for the retirement of both hunters, with the reasoning of Nurmagomedov that he made a promise to his mother that he would not fight without his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, in his corner, after his death.

St-Pierre returned after a four-year retirement in 2017 and destroyed Michael Bisping to become the UFC middleweight champion, but shortly thereafter retired when he found out that he had colitis.

Despite the respective reasons for both hunters for retirement, UFC Hall of Famer, Chael Sonen, believes, however, that the real reason is due to continuous brutal weight savings.

“The only reason why you didn't get Khabib until 30-0 is because you wanted to do it on 155 pounds, Khabib and everyone would get stuck, Georges St-Pierre, directly on the list,” Sonen claimed in a recent YouTube video.

“All the guys you have ever retired would have done another if you had let them go in weight,” he went on.

Joe Rogan wants weight cutting from the UFC

Weight cut remains a huge problem in not only the UFC, but also in MMA in general.

Fighters still use dangerous methods to get into weight, which sometimes causes health problems and fans are wondering how nearly 100% hunters are when they get into the cage.

UFC icon, Joe Rogan, has historically labeled the cutting weight as 'sanctioned cheating' and has constantly suggested that the UFC adds more weight classes to stop the weight of the weight.
