Arsenal is expected to be busy this summer, because they are preparing for a new crack in the Champions League, while they also start what they hope she will be a different title hunt
Arsenal will play Champions League football again next season after beating Newcastle United on Sunday. Declan Rice scored the only goal of the match at the Emirates Stadium, with the victory that confirmed anything but a second place for the Gunners.
Last summer Mikel Arteta stood up for the campaign by signing Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, among others. Arsenal, however, was hindered by injuries in attacks, and some feel that they need reinforcements to ensure that they can prevent a repetition.
Viktor Gyokeres is heavier coupled than others, with Benjamin Sesko another option. Gyokeres achieved the Primeira Liga title for Sporting CP this weekend and has tackled his future.
Arsenal is preparing for what a first window will be with Andrea Berta as a sports director. The Italian, previously in Atletico Madrid, will undoubtedly have identified some potential goals.
We also have the last of Arsenal's co-chairman Josh Kroenke, who has shed some light on the plans of the Gunners. Here are the latest rules of Mirror Football from the Stadium of Emirates.
Gyokes speaks after the title profit
Sports may still have Ruben Amorim at the helm, but they still have Viktor Gyokeres in the goals. The Swede scored his 39th league goal of the season – more than double the census of his closest challenger – while sporting Benfica spent the title.
The attention soon turned to his future, but he was a non-committee. “It's football, I'm still there,” he told Portuguese Omroep Sport TV via Record. “I don't know what will happen. Nobody can predict the future.”
Nevertheless, Arsenal remains very much in the mix for the former Brighton man. An offer in the £ 60 million region is probably sufficient, but a reunion with Amorim at Manchester United is not excluded.
Kroenke expands ambition
Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has set the tone for a big summer with Andrea Berta who is in charge of transfers. Koenke dealt with the subject in a letter to fans, which was shared in the program prior to the last home competition match of the season.
“We are planning to invest to find out and do better the following season,” wrote the American. “We are pleased that we have our sports director, Andrea, who will play an important role in this.
“He is part of a united and strong team, supported by the board, which are crystal clear on exactly what we have to do and the way we want to do it. The right way. The Arsenal manner.”
Arteta self -confident of the support of Board
Mikel Arteta expects to get the support he needs on the transfer market this summer. This despite the fact that the Spaniard admits not so long ago that the levels of his team have fallen slightly in the Premier League.
It is now five years without a trophy, because Arteta de Gunners led to FA Cup Glory in his first season. Yet he does not expect that things will change worse when it comes to bringing in reinforcements.
“They have always done within the limitations of the limitations we have,” Arteta told BBC Radio 5 live when asked about possible support from the higher ups. “They have always been really supportive.”
