AC Milan head coach Serio Conukicao has called for a united front among supporters after Sunday's 3-1 defeat against Roma sentenced them to a campaign without European football next season.
The Rossoneri are ninth in the Serie A table after that defeat, five points behind the sixth Lazio placed with one more match. It is a season to forget.
The defeat comes shortly after they were beaten 1-0 by Bologna in the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday and Concukicao recognized the negativity around the club.
“The mood was not easy to deal with after the final, with incidents not only then, but during my five months here that was not on our way,” Conceicao told Dazn.
“They are always negative for us and positive for the opposition, either because of our own mistakes or those of others.”
Although the outcome of the season was disappointing, the Portuguese head coach suggested that the season was not all bad since he arrived in January.
“I am not saying that it was a good season or perfect five months, absolutely not, but there were also some positive points. We won the Italian Super Cup, we reached the Coppa Italia final, but when it arrived at the most important games, there were negative moments.
“I don't want any apologies, I am passionate about football and it is sad that I can't be there with my players. We have to try to be united in a season that was not easy and take responsibility.”
With a touch line ban that hangs over him for the last game of the season for already related Monza, it is possible that Conceicao could have been in the Dugout in AC Milan for the last time.
