Man City WITHDRAW from race for £126m Florian Wirtz over soaring fees

Manchester City has withdrawn the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen Sensation Florian Wirtz.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich will continue to hunt for one of Europe's smartest talents for the time being, but the priceless costs have deterred the side of Pep Guardiola.

The transfer costs can reduce a British transfer record of £ 126 million every lover – a stretch city was apparently not willing to make.

Wirtz, who was a key figure in Leverkusen's unbeaten Double last season, was seen as a potential successor to the departing Kevin De Bruyne.

A trek of 18 goals and 20 assists saw the young person burst in international consciousness last season, and he supported this with another 16 strikes and 15 setups this campaign.

Only 22, he has been closed 29 times by Germany and outgoing Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has described him as 'world class'.

More to follow.
