Mount feels Man Utd are close to changing track under Amorim

Mason Mount feels that Manchester United is on the right route under Ruben Amorim while the Red Devils are looking forward to a Europa League confrontation with Tottenham.

United Face Spurs in Bilbao on Wednesday with not only a European trophy for grabbing, but also a place in the Champions League of next season.

That is despite the fact that both parties have had enormously disappointing Premier League seasons.

On the way to the collision, Spurs is 17th, while United is 16th, after he did not win in nine league trips.

The Amorim team can only end up to 14th, but Mount, which scored in the victory of United over Athletic Bilbao in the second stage of their semi-final of the Europa League, thinks the Red Devils are on the right track.

“I feel that we are close,” he said ESPN. “These are small details here and there in competitions. Especially in the Premier League. If the small details are not good, you can be punished. It can sometimes be devastating. In the Premier League they are fine margins.

“As a group we always try to block the noise. We know the situation in which we find themselves. We know that the competition is not good enough, but the Europa League is something we are looking forward to and it is a final.

“It is a trophy and next season is Champions League football. We will do everything in our power to win that game. We will not forget what we have done in the competition and our competition form.

“That is something we have to work on for next season. We know we have to work on that. This is a final. If we can win it, it can be a positive goal of a difficult season.”

Mount has had an injury hit-stint at United since he came to the club from Chelsea in 2023.

He only played 45 games in all competitions, only 17 starts and with only 1,580 minutes with a registration of five target contributions (four goals, one assist).

“The injuries are something that I clearly did not see coming,” Mount added.

“That has not been easy, but I have remained very focused all the time.

“I always had the final goal in my mind that it would be fine and something will happen and I will get a moment when I will score a few goals or something will happen.

“It has not been easy for me, not standing on the field and the stands can be watched at games. The fans see that because I don't play.

“I want to be there as much as I can help the boys, to help the club, to help the team win games.

“It's not easy, but I was held on. I recently saw many reactions and praise and I keep working hard.”
