Manchester United has reportedly held face-to-face conversations with Liam Delap for a £ 30 million relocation from Ipswich.
The striker, 22, came to the fore as a top objective for Ruben Amorim after he boned this season in 12 Premier League objectives.
Chelsea is also interested in collecting Delap, which has an active release clause of £ 30 million after the relegation of Ipswich to the championship.
But the attacker seems to favor an old Trafford switch after direct conversations with United Chiefs.
The Athletic Reports Ippswich gave Delap permission to travel to Manchester after he had come from Sunday's 2-0 defeat on Sunday in Leicester.
It was United of the possibility to sell their vision to the ex-Man Stadsstarlet.
But the Red Devils still have to make a formal offer for Delap while concentrating on the Europa League final on Wednesday.
United also wants to strengthen their front line with the signing of the Matheus Cunha van Wolves.
And it is believed that a deal is close to Cunha, but the agreement is with personal conditions.
Again, United has yet to meet the £ 62.5 million release clause from Brazilian.
But internally they have decided to activate it as soon as the season comes to an end when Wolves brace themselves brace for an official approach.
A large number of other top attackers also remain on the shortlist of United.
Viktor Gyokers, who played under Amorim in Sporting Lisbon, and Victor Osimhen, on loan in Galatasaray from Napoli, remain options for the NO9 position.
In the meantime, Bryan Mbuemo van Brentford is still contrary to a supporting role in the attack.
But for now it is Delap and Cunha who are in front of the way for United at a combined cost of £ 92.5 million.
