Arsenal sent direct Dortmund transfer message as chief admits deal COULD happen

Arsenal would like to add attacking recruits to their team prior to the following season with Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens between the options for the Gunners

Arsenal has received the green light to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens, with the Bundesliga giants who suggest that they would be open to offers. The English winger has been associated with a switch to the Premier League in recent months.

Arsenal are reportedly interested, with Premier League rival Chelsea and Newcastle both in the running. And it seems that he could quickly move in what is a huge boost for the transfer plans of the gunners.

Borussia Dortmund sports director Sebastian Kehl has spoken about his future and claimed that there is interest in the wing player. Speaking with Sport1 he said: “There is definitely a market for him. He is a very exciting player. We will keep discussions soon. If offers come in, we will have to deal with it.”

Gittens, 20, enjoyed a sensational season for Dortmund with 12 goals and has made five assists in all competitions this season. He has just over three years on his contract in the club that joined Manchester City in 2020.

The young person may not be the only player who leaves the club this summer. The futures of Giovanni Reyna, Niklas Süle, Salih Özcan and Julian Brandt all remain in the air, where Kehl points to the importance of reducing the wage account of the club in the summer.

“We want to lower wages,” he added. “That said, it is possible that we will continue with some of these players. But some may no longer be part of the BVB team next season.”

Away from Gittens, Arsenal could also make a movement for a striker, with sporty Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres under the potential options for which they could take a step. Reports in Portugal have suggested that an agreement has already been found about a move, something that Gyokeres remained tight.

He said: “It's football, I'm still there. I don't know what's going to happen. Nobody can predict the future. I am very happy, it was a game that went well for us. Very happy to score and win.

“It is what we wanted. Unbelievable. We can see the support we have had. So many people on the street, not only today, but even when it rains in November and December. It's incredible if there are so many people. Now we want to celebrate together.”
