Rio Ferdinand has emphasized specific concerns that he has for Man United in the Europa League final against Tottenham.
United takes on Spurs in Bilbao on Wednesday evening in the showpiece event, because the side of Ruben Amorim aims to save what a gloomy season has been.
It has not been much better for Tottenham, with the Noord -London club one place under United in the 17th in the Premier League after 21 defeats in 37 games.
The winner of the clash will secure a place in next season's Champions League, which means that it could be a real sliding doors moment for both clubs.
However, Ferdinand has expressed his concern about the physical inferiority of United and believes that this weakness can be exposed to the opposition of the Premier League.
“The worrying thing for me from a Man United Perspective is that we can physically not keep a team in the Premier League,” he told Talksport.
'If they go man-to-man and go with us, we are at a disadvantage because our profile of our players at Man United are not players who can walk so fast and so fast, and so long, and they are not as powerful as other teams.
“That's a big thing in the Premier League. We overwhelm every team in the Europe.
“There is only one team that I have seen playing against in the Europa League that we struggled against and thought:” Ooh, that was a bit too close to comfort. ” Rangers, who are physically more related to a Premier League side.
“So that is the concern for me in the last game against a Premier League team, which has defeated us three times, that physically, minimally, can match us.”
Despite Ferdinand's worries, Amorim's side remains unbeaten in Europe and they have eliminated real Sociedad, Lyon and Athletic Bilbao on their way to the final.
However, as Ferdinand refers, United this season has been beaten three times by Spurs in the competition and they have lost 18 of their 37 top flight matches.
And given the fluctuations in their versions, Ferdinand admitted that he is not sure which version of United will appear in Bilbao.
“I have to be honest, I can't call a man United result,” he told Optus Sport. “They are so inconsistent or they have been consistently bad in the Premier League.”
'But the fact that they play against Spurs, another consistently bad team in the Premier League. But they have players who can win a match. It makes it such a difficult game to call.
'I don't think the fans can be too surprised (if spurs win). They have already defeated us three times this season, so it will be no surprise if they beat us a fourth time.
“I think it's only stupid people who go:” Oh my God, I can't believe this. '
“We are 16th because we have lost many games. 18 Premier League matches that we have lost this season. Everyone who is surprised if we don't win this game against Spurs is a madman in my eyes. '
