Tottenham and Manchester United will be confronted in the Europa League final on Wednesday in the hope of ending their disastrous seasons with silverware, while also earning qualification for the Champions League of next season
Tottenham James Maddison has given fans that he could be fit for their Europa League final against Manchester United on Wednesday evening after he was seen on board the team coach traveling to Bilbao. Spurs are preparing for one of their biggest nights in recent memory, while offering to end their 17-year-old trophy-dried and to end their gloomy season in a high tone.
Both Spurs and United have suffered terrible campaigns, with the two teams currently 17th and 16 in the Premier League, but they have a chance to close with a trophy that will catapult them in the Champions League of next season.
There are injury problems for every team that goes into the epic showpiece, although Spurs has sustained a handful of recent injuries to some important players.
Playmakers Maddison and Kulusevski are both excluded from the game in a huge blow to manager Ange Postecoglou, while Lucas Bergvall and Radu Dragusin are also out for the season.
But some supporters were left enthusiastically after the official Instagram page of Tottenham had shared a video of Maddison who was on board the team bus in an official track of tracksuit.
However, it is still unlikely that Maddison will appear after Postecoglou stated that he would be out for the season with a knee injury. The player himself issued a statement in which it was admitted how stripped he was to miss the final.
He said: “Cut out. Just absolutely stripped. From the first day of this campaign we had that European final in Bilbao in Bilbao. So to accept that it cannot participate in that field with the boys is really difficult to take.
“Injuries are just a part of this game that can sometimes be so cruel. But I really believe it can be a special evening for my football club. Bring the 21st. All together.”
Maddison was not the only injured player who was seen between the traveling Tottenham group, because Bergvall was also seen on the bus. Dragusin was also depicted in Bilbao by Spurs Media.
It is likely that Postecoglou wanted to record all players before the trip to Spain to stimulate the spirits of the team. However, Kulusevski was not seen in the photos after recently a knee operation.
United also has some personal injuries in the final, with defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Diogo Dalot set for fitness tests in the run -up to the game.
Amorim already knows Center-Back Lisandro Martinez and Vooruit Joshua Zirkzee are excluded from the competition and will not perform this season, while there are also question marks about Jonny Evans.
