Although it is one of the most dominant wrestlers and grapplers that the UFC has ever seen, Islam Makhachev has been advised to work on that part of his game.
Last week it was shockingly announced that Islam Makhachev left its lightweight title and will pursue a goodweight title fight against Jack della Maddalena.
Prior to the UFC 315 Main Event, Makhachev outlined his plan and stated that the result of the main event would determine his next fight that of course Della Maddalena would dominate and won the title.
After the fight, Makhachev sent a challenging message to Della Maddalena, immediately at the start of their feud.

Makhachev said he had to work on his wrestling for Della Maddalena fight
From this moment on there is currently no date for the Welterweight title conflict between Islam Makhachev and the newly crowned champion, but the upcoming event of the UFC in Abu Dhabi will be rumors in October.
One of the most surprising aspects of the victory of Della Maddalena over Belal Muhammad is that he has filled the majority of Muhammad's deleted attempts and showed an incredible wrestling defense.
And that is why Makhachev is closed to work on his wrestling, even though he is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the sport, by his old friend and training partner, Daniel Cormier.
“Islam vs Jack is becoming a great fight, especially seeing Jack de Takedowns defending in the way he did and Islam struggled a bit to bring Dustin Poirier down,” Cormier began to explain in the recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy.
“He did not take him off as easily as he had taken other guys, so I think he really should be determined for Makhacheve to prepare that wrestling to fight a man in Jack della Maddalena who showed a great removal of Takedown and, man, this guy has a good boxing, especially when you are in tight in him,” Cormier went further.
Islam Makhachev proved his striking with blockbuster Ko about Volkanovski
Although the Australian is supposed to have the striking advantage in the matchup, Makhachev has proven during his UFC career that he stands out an elite level.
And fans came when he eliminated Alexander Volkanovski in their rematch on UFC 294 with a brutal first round of main kick knockout.
The striking style of Della Maddalena leans more on his boxing benefits, while the Russian feels more comfortable to use its stairs as part of his attacks, as well as a dominant Thai clinch.
