Amateurish? Women’s Champions League trophy was stolen in Lisbon, now recovered

The final of the Women's Champions League this season will take place in the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, the home of Sporting CP. According to the German Sport Bild, the final was almost confronted with the shameful prospect not to have a trophy.

The Lisbon police revealed on Tuesday that the trophy was stolen on Saturday 17 May, local time.

The trophy could be seen in the stadium in the stadium during the tranquility of Sporting CP's Match against Vitória de Guimarães, as part of the structure of the great UEFA final.

The police reported: “Various masked persons broke into the stadium by opening a garage door.” The theft was only reported the next day, at what point an investigation was started.

In addition to the Women's Champions League trophy, the thieves also stole bags from UEFA staff.

Although the trophy has since successfully recovered, others continue to miss UEFA -specific items. The police have identified 13 suspects but have not yet made arrests.

For investigative reasons, the police have not announced any further details or the identity of the missing items. Updates are expected in the coming days and the authorities hope that arrests will follow soon
