Ruben Amorim says he would run away without compensation from Manchester United if the board and fans decided that he was not the right man for the job, but has no plans to stop Old Trafford.
The Abysmal season of the Red Devils reached a new low point on Wednesday when United was beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in the Europa League final in San Mames.
The filthy goal of Brennan Johnson shortly before the break arranged a Tetchy match and is another nail in the coffin of a campaign that ends trophy -free for United and now no European football means next season.
Moreover, United – the 16th is with just one game to play in the Premier League – can only end as high as 14th and no fewer than 27 points are at drift of the Champions League places.
The Portuguese, who only came to United in November, promised that he will continue to do his utmost to reverse things, but said that if the club's hierarchy decides that he is not the man to do this, he would not negotiate an severance payment.
Amorim said during his press conference after the game: “We must see that I will not be here at the moment to defend myself, it's not my style.
“I have nothing to show to the fans, and we say that we are going to improve this. At the moment it is a bit of trust.

“As I said before I came here, I am always open. If the board and the fans feel that I am not the right man, I will go without any conversation about compensation the following days, but I will not stop.
“Again, I am really faith in my work, I will not change anything in the way I do things.”
United has now suffered their 20th defeat in all competitions this season, most of them in a season since 22 in 1973-74, in a season, they were banned from the top flight.
They conquered in their first four major European finals between 1968 and 2008, but since then they are ready in four of their last five.
In the game itself they actually had 16 shots against Tottenham's three, with six to be on goal, but their expected goals (XG) of 0.9 were lower than Spurs' 1.0.
“I think I was always very honest with you. We didn't keep perfect today, [but] We were better than the opponent in the second half. We tried everything, “Amorim added.
“I think I'm really honest with you. I expect the same thing. There are some days that I said we were really poor, but today wasn't the day.”
The defeat of course also means that United will not earn the right to play in the Champions League next season.
Asked how that could influence the club's plans in the coming transfer window, Amorim said: “We have two plans, even for the market, and we must understand that it is difficult for a club like ours not to be in the Champions League.
“But we have to use the other side, so if we have more time, we have more time to think during the week and to do better in the Premier League. That will be our focus.”
