Barcelona manager Hansi Flick noted last week that a new contract with the club was 'not ready', but it seems that there has been a movement in recent days, after the Blaugrana had announced an extension. It will keep the German coach in the Catalan capital until 2027.
Flick arrived last summer with a two -year deal to keep him in the club until the end of Joan Laporta's mandate as president and has added an extra year to that deal. Sport notes that his technical staff, consisting of Marcus Sorg (assistant manager), Toni Tapalovic and Heiko Westermann have also seen their contracts, are being expanded to match that of film.
On various occasions, Flick noted that he prefers to assess things year after year, instead of committing something in the long term. In the local press it has also been noted that Barcelona will probably be Flick's last job, and he has no plans to be on the couch for many years. The 2026-27 season has a good chance of being in management, if not it afterwards.
The Revival in Barcelona is one of the most impressive in La Liga and takes a side that seemed broken and short of a Copa del Rey and La Liga Double. One of the four wins over Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup marked his first trophy. The only bittersweet aspect of the season fell in the semi -final of the Champions League against Inter, an achievement in itself, but also a disappointment to miss.
Although Flick has received a wage increase for his work, it is unlikely that he will get more than one or two extra players this summer while preparing a new attack on the Champions League. While the Blaugrana is struggling with their salary limit again, every money they have will be invested in one signing.
