Atletico Madrid star to make first appearance in two months after recovering from traumatic brain injury
Atletico Madrid will play Cacereno in the Copa del Rey on Thursday. Diego Simeone's side have won their last seven games in all competitions and they are aiming to make it eight in Extremadura.
Amid a very busy schedule for Atleti, Simeone is expected to make major changes to his squad for the match against Cacereno. According to Marca, the player expected to earn a starting spot is Robin Le Normand, who is almost fully fit after suffering a traumatic brain injury during the Madrid derby in September.
Atleti have been very cautious about Le Normand's recovery and there is no guarantee he will start on Thursday. However, he did train with the expected starters during Tuesday's session, so barring any setbacks he should be fit for the next 24/48 hours.
Le Normand had a strong start as a player for Atletico Madrid before the injury, and if he can return to that level in his comeback, it would be very good news for Simeone.
