Riccardo Calafiori’s six-word response to Arsenal exit rumours says it all

Riccardo Calafiori has been associated with a relocation of Arsenal this summer and the Italy -International has now spoken about his future, insisting that he is “very happy” at the Emirates

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has given a clear answer to rumors that connect him with a relocation of the Emirates. Calafiori came to Arsenal from Bologna last summer, but struggled during his first season in the club with injury problems.

Reports from Italy have claimed that Arsenal is open to the sale of the 23-year-old and that AC Milan and Juventus are interested in bringing him back to Serie A., Calafiori has now moved to close the transfer rumors.

“I am very happy at Arsenal,” he was in an interview with Gianlucadimarzio.com. Calafiori also said that he does not regret his move to North Londs, and added: “For me personally it was a great experience.

“It is clear that when you win trophies, it is always better. Here I have measured myself against the most important and difficult championship in the world.

“I saw that I could be easy, this made me very happy and I am convinced of the choice I made. A regret? Nobody, absolutely.

“I always feel good in every position I play, I try to help the team. In my opinion, what was missing just continuity this year. I will try to be more consistent next year.

“When I was good, I always played and I also made the difference. The goal is just to stay in shape all year round.”

Calafiori has previously admitted that he did not find it easy to adapt to Arsenal, and told men in blowers in January: “I was very enthusiastic to participate because Mikel showed me his ideas and the plans he had for me.

“I couldn't wait to play for him. I think it was the right option for me to develop and improve, to become a top player. That's why I am here and I want to continue.

“It is the details, it is something I have never seen in a coach before. Nothing is casual with him. When I came here for the first time, it was impossible to play because you had so much information to remember.

“Certainly, you need a month to get used to it. One of my skills is my intensity and my mental strength. I don't mind playing left back or in the middle and I want to play in a midfielder if I can.

“It depends on the team and the ideas of the coach. Mikel, for example, wants me to stay inside, so I play back as a center.”
