Arsenal Mikel Arteta wants to reform his silk this summer if they offer to kick the following season and win silverware, and hopes that the club's sign is needed to hand out a new deal to Thomas Partey
Mikel Arteta has for the first time admitted that he wants Thomas Partey to sign a new contract with Arsenal. The 31-year-old midfielder has been one of the best artists of the club this season, but his current deal will end next month and his future remains doubtful.
His former club Atletico Madrid would be one of his pursuers, while there is also interest in clubs in Saudi Arabia. Arteta has previously hinted that Arsenal is ready to offer Pedey, who played 50 times this season, to state a new contract that the “intention is very clear”.
But when asked when he is immediately asked if he wants Partey to stay, Arteta said: “Yes. There are questions about a few of them, so we have to wait.
“But with regard to Thomas, in terms of consistency, it has been his best season. The way he played, played and his availability has been exceptional. He is a really important player for us.”
Kieran Tierney and Jorginho no longer have a contract with both this summer because of their last games for Arsenal against Southampton on Sunday. Arsenal goes to the south coast for their last game of the season with their Champions League qualification protected, and they are on course to end the second place in the Premier League for the third consecutive season.
It will be an essential summer for Arsenal because they focus on a striker with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak from Newcastle, all possible contenders to move to North Londs.
This week Arsenal is also linked to a movement for Rodrygo from Real Madrid and Arteta insisted that he will strengthen a team that is missing 'firepower'.
He continued: “If you want to win big trophies, you have to be the best in the market, no? The teams who win always have the best players.

William Saliba and Jurrien Timber miss the last game of Arsenal of the season with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively. Timber had surgery and Arteta is hopeful that the defender will be available before the next campaign starts.
