Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo was convinced earlier this week that Star -attacker Julian Alvarez would not go anywhere, but if reports should be believed, his representatives are not of the same spirit. Alvarez arrived until a lot of fanfare last summer and cost Los Rojiblancos € 75 million (which could rise to € 90 million with variables) from Manchester City.
The World Cup winner was perhaps their best player this season, and with one game to go, he scored 29 times and gave six assists in his 53 performances. Earlier this week there was a report that Barcelona considered an approach for Alvarez in the summer of 2026 and that he would be open to listen to that offer.
Cerezo rejected the idea out of hand and said that Lamine Yamal came to Atletico earlier. El Chiringuito, however, has reported that the agents of Alvarez will meet the Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool next week to discuss his current situation.
That said, it is noted that Alvarez is interested in moving to the aforementioned teams, and that if an offer would tempt him to leave the Metropolitano, it might be a move to Catalonia.
It seems unlikely that Los Colchoneros would be willing to let Alvarez go. They would probably demand an offer above what they have paid for him, and there are a limited number of clubs that are willing to assemble bids above that figure.
Moreover, the return of Atletico fans and the potential message it would send to Diego Simeone and the team would be virulent. Alvarez was the standard carrier for new investments and a renewed ambition under Simeone, but if he left, that idea would rise in smoke.
