Spurs -defender Micky van de Ven hit back to critics after the triumphant UEFA Europe Europa League final of Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs defeated Manchester United with 1-0 to win their first European trophy since 1984. The Dutch international Micky van de Ven played a huge role in the Triumph of Spurs and saved a ball from the goal line with an acrobatic attempt to prevent Rasmus Hojlund from scored in the second half.
“I haven't seen it back yet, but I heard that it was good,” Van de Ven told the Dutch media outfit Ziggo Sport after the game. “I fell on the artificial grass, so my back hurt.”
The 24-year-old half of the center took the opportunity after the game to hit back with a few early Jabs during his move from Wolfsburg to Tottenham. “This is incredible. Everyone joked that I would not win any prizes here. We have now wrongly proven them,” said Van de Ven.
“This is an incredible feeling. I had a pretty bad season with injuries, but now we are here.”
Van de Ven made rapid progress in the football world and moved from Boyhood Club FC Volendam to Premier League -outfit Tottenham Hotspur in two years after a short stint in Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
With their Europa League win, Van de Ven and Tottenham Hotspur will play in the UEFA Champions League of next year. “I hadn't even thought of that yet,” he admitted. “That will also be my first time!”
