Barcelona hopes to agree to a new long -term contract with star player Lamine Yamal for when he turns 18 in July, but the process does not seem to have been as easy as they would like.
A pre-agreement is present between Barcelona and Lamine Yamal to sign a new deal that would come into force on his 18th birthday, but the conditions of that deal have yet to be completed. And complications turned out to be created earlier this week when it was reported that the teenager demanded to be one of the highest earners in the club.
Although this information was refused by Sporting Director Deco, Barcelona would feel uncomfortable about the situation. And as such they want to be packed as quickly as possible.
As reported by MD, Barcelona has established a deadline of next Monday (26 May) that contract conditions are completed with Lamine Yamal and his representatives. The club has made it clear that they do not want to wait until he turns 18 for conversations to resume, with the idea that a pre-agreement has now been completed that would take effect on July 13.
According to the report, Barcelona would be afraid of the prospect of a “stratospheric” that comes in that the head of Lamine Yamal would change. PSG has long been interested in signing the winger and their interest has been confirmed several times by Deco and Joan Laporta. There is a chance that they try to come back in the summer, so there is a wish for an agreement to be reached early next week.
It makes sense for Barcelona to get this as quickly as possible, and with Jorge Mendes to be in the area this weekend, it would be no surprise to see that they get their way.
