Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has explained the club's plans for the summer transfer window, with Liverpool -wing player Luis Diaz and Manchester United Vooruit Marcus Rashford of Interest
Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has admitted that they are interested in both Liverpool wing player Luis Diaz and Manchester United, this summer in Marcus Rashford. The summer transfer window is now just around the corner and Barca weighs movements for a number of controversial goals.
Diaz is strongly connected this summer to a move to La Liga, with Arne Slot who wants to renew his attack. Both Diaz and Darwin Nunez can be in motion as soon as the window is opened, with Barca on Diaz and Atletico Madrid Nunez.
Liverpool has to agree on new conditions with Diaz, whose current deal ends in June 2027, and Barca is lurking. The father of Diaz has previously said that it would be a “dream” for his son to join the Catalan giants, although the winger has confirmed his happiness on Merseyside after winning the Premier League.
Rashford is now ready to make a permanent move from Manchester United after a successful loan saying with Aston Villa. He is supposed to prefer a move to Barcelona prior to a transfer to Villa or another rival Premier League.
It seems that he could get his wish, given the comments of Deco. “We love Luis, we love Rashford, and we love other players,” Deco told the Catalan radio station RAC 1. “Out of respect, talking about players who have contraction with other clubs is complicated. If we go to the market, there are names we know the team improve.”
Barca announced a new contract on Thursday until June 2028 for Raphinha after a stunning campaign contributed to him 34 goals and 25 assists in 56 games. And securing their other important players remains the first priority to the side of Hansi Flick.
“If we can keep the core of the team together, we want that,” said Deco. “I think we can do it. I think you can always improve the team, but you have to understand what kind of player you need. We first focused on what we have at home and innovations.
“The innovations of Raphinha, [Frenkie] De Jong and Eric [Garcia] Will certainly come. That is the priority. We will talk about improving the team if we can, but the key is stability. We do not believe that players will ask to leave. “
Barca, however, wants to strengthen their team, with Robert Lewandowski on the way to the last year of his contract. Fortunately they have a generation talent in their books in the form of Lamine Yamal, who, according to Deco, has attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain. It is not surprising that Barca would never consider selling. Instead, they plan a new contract.
“Lamine didn't ask for anything because we don't speak to players, but with agents,” he said. “That is not his priority. I think a player should have a contract that is fair, that corresponds to his value and I think that is what we are going to do.
“You have to adjust Lamine's contract to his reality. He must be the most important player of the most important players we have. He certainly has other things that the others don't have.”
