Florian Wirtz was generally expected to add this summer to Bayern Munich, but the interest of Liverpool has now changed the head of the German international to Anfield
Bayern Munich believes that Florian Wirtz will not add to them this summer and instead is on schedule for a sensational step to Premier League champions Liverpool.
Germany International Wirtz has long been expected to move to Bundesliga winners Bayern if he left Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but the interest of Liverpool has now turned his head.
The athletic report that Wirtz would now make a switch to Anfield, but a deal is not a formality because of the enormous transfer costs for one of the most important young attacking playmakers in world football.
Wirtz, 22, has visited the northwest of England to look at potential houses to live in, and if he were to take Liverpool with him, he would again become a teammate of his Leverkusen colleague Jeremie Frimpong, who is ready to complete his own transfer to the Reds in the coming days.
Wirtz scored 16 goals and registered 15 assists for Leverkusen this season, while he gave 18 goals and 20 assists in 49 performances in all competitions last season when the side of Xabi Alonso won the Bundesliga title.
Alonso will be the new Real Madrid manager this summer after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, while, as well as Frimpong, important defender Jonathan Tah is expected to leave the club with a free transfer.
Earlier this month, Wirtz told Sports Illustrated that he was “absolutely enthusiastic” to continue from Leverkusen in the near future to “experience something new”.
Every move from Wirtz would break the current transfer record of Liverpool, with the 29 times covered Germany International which cost to the north of £ 100 million.
Federico Chiesa is the only player who has been signed under Arne Slot who has played for the Reds so far, with the Italian international with only six times in the Premier League this season. Goalkeeper Giorgi Mhaldashvili will join the team signed from Valencia last year.
The Reds have captured Captain Virgil van Dijk and top scorer Mo Salah to new two-year contracts after a season of uncertainty about their future, but the right-wing right back Alexander-Arnold is leaving for a free transfer this summer and joins Ex-Reds Middelder Alonso at Real Madrid.
