Diego Simeone takes the positive points of the Atletico Madrid campaign despite a trophesless season.
Atletico, third in Laliga and 12 points behind champions Barcelona, were beaten by the Blaugrana from the Copa del Rey and from the Champions League round of 16 by Real Madrid.
Simeone focuses on the Club World Cup this summer and still believes that there are many positives to get out of this campaign prior to their last LaLiga match against Girona on Sunday.
“It is still positive,” Simeone told reporters.
“We again participated very well into the semi -final in the cup, we participated very well in the Champions League, one of the best in which we participated.
“In [LaLiga] We had Simeone taking the positives from trophyless season Ambitions until March. I felt that this season is closest that we came to compete for the championship.
“We have been left with the frustration that we have not won titles, which the fans like.
“We are going to the Club World Cup, what a new tournament will be and we hope to respond to the way we want it.”

Simeone, who has led Atletico to two Laliga and two Europa League titles, is aimed at ending the competition season, with a draw at Girona that is enough to close a third place.
“We are still thinking about trying to play tomorrow with those who can do the best in the game. We are not focused on giving opportunities for the club World Cup,” he added.
Atletico did not succeed in winning one of their last three Laliga Away matches (D1 L2), so they don't score in all three.
Indeed, they did not go without a goal in more consecutive road races in the competition since October 2011 under Gregorio Manzano (P4 D1 L3).
