Manchester United gave fans at least something to cheer while they sent them into the summer sun with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
True to the mood of a miserable season, United could not let their visitors escape from a high and so Villa Champions League football.
Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen were on the score sheet when United finished their worst Premier League campaign at some distance in the 15th.
Encouraging United, this was a surprisingly one -sided affair, although they were helped by the broadcast of Emiliano Martinez before the break, then the controversial goal of Morgan Rogers.
Which player has the opposition completely 'bamid “? Who looks like a 'master croke' of a signing? And on which star proved that he “cannot be trusted”?
Nathan Salt from Mail Sport brings you his players' reviews of Old Trafford.
Altay Bayindir – 6
Looks uncomfortable when balls are waved in the box and catching rarely seems like an option. Fortunately, Var can consider himself not involved when the ball was put out of his fingers and put in the back of the net by Morgan Rogers.
Victor Lindelof – 6.5
In his last outing at Old Trafford as a player of Manchester United, Lindelof did a version that was largely no mistakes. A withheld end of his time at the club, but certainly very little to raise him.
Harry Maguire – 7
One of the eight survivors from the starting XI who picked their lines in Bilbao. He played well that evening and was sure against a villa attack here, he played a large part in limiting nothing. Produced a brilliant piece of skill wide to go on Dalot, which struck the pole in the first half.
Ayden Heaven – 7
Has had to be patient to start over in the Premier League, but here there was a further reminder of what a stem he has been for the club at only £ 1.5 million. They have been missing a lot at Manchester United lately, but picking up heaven from Arsenal was a masterstroke. Should be given a greater role next season.
Noussair Mazraoui – 5
Was fat and clear on the right and created a brilliant opportunity for Mason Mount to open the score after four minutes. The day was demolished after 18 minutes after he seemed to pull his hamstring. Went straight through the tunnel.
Casemiro – 6.5
Sloked on the post When United ran the screw in the second half, this was a match that felt more European than domestic with how slow and heavy villa were, fully playing in Casemiro's hands. It can still be seen whether he will be in Old Trafford again next season with so much in the air. But this was a solid display. Booked.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
So much noise on the way to this game about his future and increasing interest from Saudi Aarabia and yet he all blocked that to continue and keep a rare profit from Manchester United. Almost a pile driver woosen by Olsen before he came to Amad to bring the score to 1-0. Gloss added to his representation by handing over unacceptable criminal duties to Christian Eriksen.
If he plays well, United do so often. That is why his Under-Par Game in Bilbao will poke for a long time.
Patrick Dorgu – 6.5
Faced with little to no resistance from a sad Matty -Content money on the day and so he ran up and down. Since arrival there have been several occasions where Dorgu looked nervous. There was not there today, especially thanks to the pathetic right side of Aston Villa.
Amad Diallo – 7.5
Wing to Wing-back during the break and that brought him alive in a game that screamed for his creativity. Ian Maatsen twice completely stunned, first runs behind him to go inside to bring the score to 1-0 and then run past him to draw a penalty for the second goal. A good day of work for the Ivorian. Booked.
Mason Mount – 6
Had two early attempts on the goal in the area that were smartly stored by EMI Martinez in four minutes. Then a touch drove. Must find a murderer instinct if he has to lock up a no. 10 place next season.
Rasmus Hojlund – 5
It was his bursting running on goal in the first half to pull the red card for Emi Martinez in the goal of Villa. But this was another version that showed that United could not trust Hojlund to place the ball in the back of the net. So frustrating when Kobbie Mainoo decreased six meters for an open goal, only to fully pick his touch.
Manager: Ruben Amorim – 7.5
Fair Play to Amorim. He had eight of his Bilbao Starters be confronted with the music for a smoking home crowd and they responded with one of their most complete versions since he arrived. Really a stylish touch to get Eriksen and Evans for their farewell performances too.
Subs
Diogo Dalot (for Noussair Mazraoui, 19) – 6
In the 28th minute, the pole hit a brilliant piece of skill in the right side of Harry Maguire. Was deducted during the break, so his last day outing was about 26 minutes in total.
Kobbie Mainoo (for Diogo Dalot, 46) – 7
One of his better games in recent months. Mainoo brought energy and goal in midfield areas to help United finally get the breakthrough. Earned an assist when he went back to Hojlund in the six-year box … Only for the rush to fill his touch.
Jonny Evans (for Ayden Heaven, 66) – 6.5
Made a creaking tackle that brought the crowd of their feet. Will be happy to remember when he goes and not much of the current crop will be able to say that when they are shown the door.
Christian Eriksen (for Mason Mount, 66) – 6
Save the bar with a free kick on almost characteristic Eriksen way, but came to the score sheet after he had received a late penalty from Fernandes. It has not always been sunshine and light during his time at the club, but he earned this special cameo as a aftertaste.
Chido Obi (for Rasmus Hojlund, 81)
