Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has thought about what this summer is required for the Gunners to improve their series second place in the Premier League
Mikel Arteta has confirmed the intentions of Arsenal to make movements in the summer that will help them reach the line to win a trophy next season. The Gunners finished second in the Premier League for a third consecutive season.
Arteta looked up from the stands against Southampton alongside Arsenal director Josh Kroenke, son of Stan Kroenke, the owner and chairman of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, the company that owns Arsenal. The Spaniard was suspended for the last game of the season and saw his match achieve a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from the departing Kieran Tierney and midfielder Martin Odegaard.
But the Gunners -Baas wants to start again in the next term to find success. It is generally accepted that the North -London side is missing a goal scorer.
It is the first time in 101 years that Arsenal has ended a competition season without a player who reaches double digits. With artetas side recording 14 draw, only Everton saw more stalemate, a difference maker may be needed.
Arteta does not believe that much has to change with his side, those are the little margins for success. But the former coach of Manchester City wants to see the ambitions realize.
“Josh [Kroenke] Has been very clear in the direction and the ambition we have, “said Arteta on Sunday.” We are going to try to see what we can do, make very subtle decisions and respect what has brought us so far.
“There is not much improvement. We finished second three times, have reached the semi -final of the Champions League. There is that small percentage that we have to grab.”
Earlier this month, Kroenke outlined his ambitions for the club in a message to supporters within a program. “We are planning to invest to go behind and do better the next season,” he wrote.
“We are pleased that we have our sports director, Andrea, who will play an important role in this. He is part of a united and strong team, supported by the board, who are crystal clear in exactly what we have to do and the way we want to do it. The right way. The arsenal way.”
Although they did not get their goals, Arteta was happy that a victory at Southampton took a suitable farewell for Kieran Tierney. The contract of the Scotland International is going this summer and he returns to Boyhood Club Celtic.
“We wanted to end with that positivity, that good atmosphere and atmosphere,” he said. “We had to say goodbye to a few players and I think they deserved that it would happen in a beautiful environment.”
“He [Tierney] Yesterday said, “I'm going to score on my last Arsenal competition” and he did it, “said Arteta.” Very happy with him. He has been a large part of the journey. “
