Legends of French football Zinédine Zidane and Basile Boli have publicly thrown their support behind Paris Saint-Germain prior to the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday.
Speaking from the Paddock in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, Zidane told – a native Marseille and old ambassador for the F1 team of Alpine – to Canal+ that he will root for the French representatives in Munich.
“Of course I'm going to watch the final. Even me, who comes from Marseille … the French team has to win,” said the Ballon d'Or winner of 1998 with a smile.
PSG only tries to become the second French club that lifts the Champions League, 32 years after the side of Zidane's hometown Olympique de Marseille defeated AC Milan in Munich.
If the words of Zidane left a slight sense of clubyality that was still hanging, the last goal scorer Basile Boli of 1993 was unambiguous in his support for the Parisians. The former OM -defender appeared on France Info program Mission info.
