Man U trigger Cunha £62.5m release clause as Amorim nears first summer transfer

Manchester United has reportedly agreed a deal to sign Wolves striker Matheus Cunha with the club that has activated his £ 62.5 million clause.

An oral agreement has been concluded with the attacker of a five -year -old deal, with an option for another year.

United has passed and lost a miserable season in the Europa League final of Tottenham, and will not compete for the second time in European football next season in European football in 35 years after ending in the 15th in the Premier League.

And Ruben Amorim is desperate to strengthen his attacking options with Rasmus Hojlund Misfiring, while Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford leave in the summer.

Cunha, who signed a new four -year -old deal with Wolves in February, scored 15 times and gave six assists in the competition this season and is heavily connected to United during the campaign.

In April, Mail Sport reported that the Red Devils almost match the 25-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there will now be a verbal agreement while the contracts will be checked next week.

The Brazilian has made his wish to leave his current club clear for a few months.

Amorim has made no secret of his admiration for Cunha. He was seen in conversation with him after United lost 2-0 in Molineux in December and again in the tunnel in the reverse match in Old Trafford last month.

Asked for Cunha last month, Amorim said: 'I will not say anything about Matheus, because if I say once, I will have to say for every situation that is yes or no.

'I will not comment on that. It is difficult to predict what will happen in the future. '

In the meantime, United Legend Paul Scholes has said that Cunha would be wise to have chosen another destination.

Scholes wrote why he explains why he 'worries' for the attacker in his TNT sport column:' He looks like he has the attributes that Ruben Amorim wants.

'He knows that physically his team is simply not strong or fast enough, so Matheus Cunha is clearly athletic, and he has quality with 15 league goals this season.

'I just worry about every signature that is currently coming to Manchester United. It just feels like it's such a bad place to go. The quality of playing at the moment is so bad. '

United is also interested in signing Ipswich striker Liam Delap, although a number of other Premier League parties, including Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton, are also in the race for his signature.

Although Wolves have struggled this season, ending under United in the 16th, Cunha has been their striking performer.

But the campaign is not free from drama.

Cunha, who moved to Wolves two years ago, was struck by a ban of four games after headbutting and kick Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

He was also beaten with a fine of £ 50,000 for the red card during their collision with the cherries in the FA Cup.

The International Brazil was banned from two competitions and a fine of £ 80,000 after he appeared to Elleboog and had removed the glasses from an Ipswich staff member.

Cunha's fine was dropped from £ 120,000 after he offered to pay new glasses.

United closed their enormously disappointing campaign with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in Old Trafford on Sunday.

She saw wolves jump to end in the 15th.

Next season the first time in 11 years will be that they will not be involved in a European competition.
