The Leicester, born in Leicester, who seamlessly moved from football player to one of the most famous presenters at the Corporation, was temporarily suspended in March 2023.
He was involved in an impartiality between comments he made as a criticism of the new asylum policy of the then government.
In November 2024 he announced that he would resign from presenting the competition of the day at the end of the season, but would still organize the World Cup and FA Cup cover.
A statement from Lineker was: “I care a lot about the game, and for the work I have done with the BBC for many years. Like I said, I would never consciously post something anti-Semitic again against everything I stand for.
“However, I recognize the mistake and upset that I have caused, and repeat how sorry I am. A step back now takes the responsible way of acting.”
But the ex-England captain suggested that he wants to get away from traditional television when asked in an interview about his schedule after Motd.
Just a few days before he announced his exit of the BBC on Monday, Lineker told the Podcast Beyond The Title: “I have a large podcast company professionally and I think it takes quite a bit of my time and it will probably take a little more now.
“It is really exciting and it is a lot of fun. We are doing very well. I don't think I will do a lot of television.
'Really proud'
“Hopefully I am in a position where I can just choose things that I really want to do. So I really think the podcast world.”
Lineker also stated that his temporary employment career made him more proud than his on-pitch heroic for teams such as Leicester, Everton, Spurs and Barcelona.
He added: “I am probably a bit proud of what I did when broadcasting then possible football, because I always said I was born to be in the box, not on the box.
“I had to work very hard on television.
“I had to work hard on football, but it came naturally, while television did not come naturally.
“It took a lot of hard work and effort and determination and studying and things from other people and how they do it.
“In the end I got there. I am probably proud of the fact that I got the top in the broadcast.”
