Conte lauds ‘extraordinary’ Scudetto win amid Napoli exit rumours

Antonio Conte said that celebrating a Serie A title profit with Napoli was a unique experience, because reports suggest that the Italian is preparing to leave the Partenopei.

After he had taken over a Napoli side that mounted the worst scudetto defense in history last season and ended 10th, Conte supervised a remarkable title Triumph in his debut campaign.

After he had taken Inter to the title with a 2-0 home victory on Cagliari on Friday, Napoli celebrated next to thousands of fans on an open-top bus parade next to thousands of fans.

Napoli became the first team in a Serie A season of 20 teams to win the Scudetto after ending the 10th campaign.

The previous biggest leap due to a title-winning side was also under Conte, with Juventus in seventh in 2010-11 and then first in 2011-12.

Juventus is linked to a step to bring Conte back to Turin, but he ignored questions about his future on Monday and instead concentrated on the jubilant celebrations of the fans.

“We work to do something important and to give these sensations to ourselves, but especially to the fans. I am really happy, celebrating the Scudetto in Napoli is really something extraordinary,” Conte told Rai from the top of the bus in the parade.

“It is a city that gives you everything and wants a lot in return. I think we have given them everything we had and they have been repaid today with this extraordinary affection. You really have to experience it to understand what it means.

“It's hard not to create a special bond with this city, it's full of passion and enthusiasm.”

Conte also praised title rivals Inter, while the Side of Simone Inzaghi is preparing to play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday.

“Honor to those who won, but also for Inter, because we have beaten a great team that had an extraordinary season and has the chance to win the Champions League on Saturday. This honors us even more,” Conte added.

The most important scorer of Napoli in the Serie A this season, Romelu Lukaku, was willing to comment on Conte's future and said: “I will do everything to keep him here, I always talk to him, I told him he should stay.”

After the Scudetto won with Diego Maradona only earlier in their side in 1986-87 and 1989-90, Napoli has now lifted it twice in the past three campaigns.

With this title, Napoli becomes the team from Centraal to Zuid -Italia with the most Scudetto victories (four), while Conte has now won five times Series A as a coach.

He previously won the division three times with Juventus and once with Inter.

After matching the five titles of Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello, he is now only behind Giovanni Trapattoni (seven) and Massimiliano Allegri (six).
