Tim Elliott went away against Kai Asakura after more than 500 days
Former UFC title challenger and winner of 'The Ultimate Fighter 24' Tim Elliott has been booked against former Rizin Bantamweight champion Kai Asakura at UFC 319. The flight weight Matchup was first reported by REALKEVINK.
Elliott has not fought anymore since an entry from the first round to Sumudaerji on December 9, 2023, who was 17 months ago. Despite his inactivity, the American has saved his #11 place in the UFC Flyweight Rankings.
The #15-ranged Asakura has has to pick up its first UFC victory since he registered with the promotion last summer.
Asakura made his UFC debut against flight weight champion Alexandre Pantoja in the main event of UFC 310 in December.
Pantoja wasted no time to bring the former Rizin champion to the ground and entered Asakura with a second-round choke in the second round to defend his title.
Asakura, 31, wants to cash in himself in his second UFC fight against a gray veteran in Elliott, who is his oldest for seven years.
Tim Elliott went five rounds with Demetrious Johnson in the 'Tuf 24' final
Once released by the UFC after three consecutive losses in 2015, Elliott fought his way back to the Octagon by running one of the most difficult hood gloves in the history of 'The Ultimate Fighter'.
Season 24 of 'The Ultimate Fighter' contained champions from all over the world, including current champion Pantoja, Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France, with the winner of the reality TV program that fights the then champion and flight weight 'Geit' Demetrious Johnson in 2016.
Within a few weeks, Elliott won four times in the show and assured his shot at 'Mighty Mouse' by beating former Rizin champion and Asakura's former rival Hiromasa Oukikubo.
After winning the show, Elliott Johnson challenged the flightweight title on December 3, 2016, in what turned out to be a total war on the spot.

Elliott and Johnson struggled five straight rounds with Elliott who secured four Takedowns at the champion and Johnson took five Takedowns with thirteen more minutes of control time.
Elliott gave Johnson a run for his money and survived three submission attempts (with a smile on his face) to see the five -round distance. All three jury members scored the match for Johnson, but Elliott got one round on the score cards.
