Wolves have rejected a payment structure proposed by Manchester United for the signing of Brazilian attacker Matheus Cunha.
However, the 26-year-old is still expected to make the switch to Old Trafford this summer.
United is willing to comply with the £ 62.5 million release clause in Cunha's contract, but hoped to wicker the deal by paying in installments of £ 12.5 mA years for five seasons.
That proposal was rejected by Wolves, who wants to pay the full amount before the summer of 2027 in accordance with the conditions of the buyout clause.
It is understood that United remains optimistic for completing the transfer, whereby Cunha is excited by the prospect to become the biggest signing of Ruben Amorim so far.
The couple was seen in Old Trafford last month after the second defeat of United by Wolves in what was a gloomy campaign for Amorim's side.
Conversely, Cunha enjoyed an excellent individual campaign in 2024-25, scored 15 goals and gave six assists in 33 Premier League performances.
His total was more than every player from Manchester United in the competition, when Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo ended the season when the Joint-Top Scorers of United with only eight goals each.
Wolves had looked on course to finish in the table above United after they had hit them home and away, but were jumped on the last day.
The 2-0 victory of United on Aston Villa on Sunday, combined with Wolves who was held at home with 1-1 against Brentford, ensured that Amorim's side above Wolves ended on target difference.
But the 15th place still represented the lowest competition of United since their last relegation in 1974.
After playing against Brentford on Sunday for the full 90 minutes, Cunha sent a message to Wolves supporters via Instagram.
He wrote: 'Wolves, what can I tell you?
“What an incredible season. We did not come where you deserve to be, but we have done everything to make you proud. I love these guys.
'It was individually the best season of my life. All this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club.
'I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season, together with @roberto_firmino and @gabriel.martinelli.
'I made mistakes and have things good, but always because I have lived this club so much. All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for wolves. Another is over.
“And thanks all for all affection.”
