Dustin Poirier’s coach makes surprising admission about his fighting future ahead of UFC 318 retirement fight

Coach Mike Brown believes that Dustin Poirier's fight on UFC 318 may not be his last chapter of combat sport.

UFC -Superster Dustin Poirier returns to the Octagon in July on UFC 318 against BMF title holder Max Holloway in New Orleans. It is branded as Poirier's pension fight, because Poirier has repeatedly ensured the UFC fanbase that UFC 318 will be his last performance in the Octagon.

Poirier has returned to the cage for the first time since a loss for Islam Makhachev on UFC 302, drops to 0-3 in linear lightweight title fights. After UFC 302, Poirier leaned to retirement before he turned another fight before hung up the gloves.

But the old coach of Poirier is not 100 percent sure if UFC 318 will be the last fight of his legendary career.

Coach Mike Brown admits that a 'seductive' range of Dustin Poirier can lure for another fight

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, coach Mike Brown opened the door to Poirier who kept fighting after UFC 318.

“I mean, I think so. You can never say, but he really did well for himself. He has earned a load of the money. He is ready,” Brown said about Poirier.

“He doesn't have to fight. So it should be something pretty tempting. I mean, that can always happen, but I think he is satisfied with his performance and content with the money he did and what he did.” (H/T MMA Junkie)

One of the remaining missing pieces of Poirier's Legacy is the BMF title of Holloway, which will be on the line on UFC 318. Despite the fact that Holloway loses against Ilia Topuria in his last fight on UFC 308, his BMF title was not technical for grabbing the door to open the open -handed DIY.

This is not the first time that Poirier has challenged the BMF -Riem during his career. He fought for the then vacant BMF belt on UFC 291 and lost to Justin Gaethje through the main kick knockout.

Some have speculated that if Poirier wins the BMF belt on UFC 318, the BMF title can be completely retired when Poirier hangs the gloves. The old teammate of Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, won the inaugural BMF -Riem on UFC 244.

Dustin Poirier left UFC Vegas 107 star Brak after 'Light Sparring'

While Poirier could be closer to what his last UFC fight, he had fellow light weight mateusz gamrot beaten up for spruce before UFC Vegas 107. Gamrot is confronted with Ludovit Klein this weekend in the UFC Vegas 107 Co-Main event after months to call.

Poirier's 'Light Sparring' with Gamrot shows that he is serious about what his last performance could be in the Octagon at UFC 318. Poirier has two earlier victories over Holloway, including an interim light weight win in UFC 236.

Poirier could possibly explore other options, outside MMA, after UFC 318. One of the top boxers in the UFC, Poirier could get a number of intriguing offers with large money to compete in the ring.
