Leicester release 11 players after PL relegation including Vardy & ex-Reds star

Leicester City released 11 players after their relegation from the Premier League.

The Foxes will again fall to the championship for the 2025-26 season after the 18th in the Prem table this period.

But they will be without three first team players.

Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and club legend Jamie Vardy were all released after the end of their respective contracts.

Eight Junior Professionals will also leave, including Oliver Ewing, Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Ben Grist, Deniche Hill, Liam Mcalinney, Arjan Raikhy, Joe Wormleighton and Brad Young.

A club statement was: “All three rooms with the sincere thanks from everyone in Leicester City for their contributions during their time in King Power Stadium, as well as our best wishes for the next chapters in their career.”

Vardy announced that he left the King Power Stadium last month after 13 years.

The 38-year-old said: “It is something I thought of and talked about with my family. I think it's time. If you ask someone, I'm not really an emotional man.

“Nothing like that ever comes with me, but if you've been somewhere for so long, and it's time to say goodbye, you just never know what your personal response will be.

“I spent 13 incredible years in this club, with great success and some downs, but the majority have all been high.

“It is finally time to call it a day, which I am devastated of it, but I think the timing is good.”

Vardy appeared his last Leicester on the penultimate day of the Premier League season in the King Power Stadium.

It was his 500th outing in a Leicester shirt and he scored his 200th goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Ward has also been confirmed that he is leaving the club.

The goalkeeper came to the Foxes from Liverpool in 2018 and made 52 performances.

Iversen is the last senior player who continues as a free agent.

The 27-year-old has only made 17 performances for Leicester, which was lent on different occasions.

He is in line to become a member of Preston North End at the beginning of July.
