Thierry Henry believes that in the past three years, Arsenal has underly performed under Mikel Arteta under Mikel Arteta after not winning silverware.
Arsenal has regularly been title challengers in recent years, but finished second in each of the last three seasons. In 2024-25 they finished 10 points behind Champions Liverpool, who won the competition with four more games.
The last trophy that Arsenal won was the FA Cup in 2020 during the first season of Arteta at the helm, with this their fifth consecutive campaign without a large trophy.
This term, Arsenal was beaten from the FA Cup in the third round by Manchester United on penalties, while they fell on the semi-final obstacle in both the EFL Cup and the Champions League, to Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
The latter was their best European run since 2009, although they not only reached their second Champions League final, because they had also played the showpiece in 2006.
Henry, who spent eight years in Arsenal between 1999 and 2007, says that the Gunners should show something for their improvement under Arteta.
“I am not saying that I am disappointed about Arsenal, but it is normal that people now raise questions about what the team is doing,” Henry said the stick to football podcast.
“I understand that you arrive in the beginning and it is not your team. You need at least three or four transfer windows to change everything you want.

“It takes time and you have to give a manager the time to be able to implement what he wants to do.
“For the past three years, Arsenal has been in a situation in which they should have taken a cup at least or [reached] A final. “
Arsenal ended this season with 74 points, their lowest count since 2021-22 (69), but has an average of 82 points during the last three campaigns.
Henry, however, drew comparisons with Man Utd, who ended in the Premier League in the Premier League in 2024-25, but has participated in five major finals and won two trophies in the last five years.
“Manchester United has played in five years in the last five years, the United States that everyone laughs at – while for Arsenal has not reached a final in the last three years of the building,” Henry added.
“So I understand that when people ask the question:” You should definitely compete for a trophy? “
