Tare lays out ambitions for Milan as new sports director: We’re at RMA’s level

The former Lazio striker and sports director returns to football after resigning at the Rome Club in 2023.

Tare spoke for the first time since his appointment with Milan's media channels and revealed that he had grown up as a fan of Milan.

He started: “Milan has a glorious history. I have followed it since I was a child, I remember the times of (ray) Wilkins and (Mark) Hateley. My family, all my uncles were fans of Milan: It has always been a strong bond and I didn't hide it even when I became a player even when I became a player.

“My debut in the Serie A was a Brescia-Milaan, my first child was born during a Milan-Bologna on September 13, 2003. It is a very emotional band, then the big players, the big champions, a club led with class and elegance this have made one of the clubs, along with Real Madrid, the most glorious in the world. It means a lot for me.”

What his goals, Tare, continued: “I will try to give everything to make this story come true in the future. It is a club with an important history, we have to be good at communicating immediately to everyone: first to our fans because they expect a strong response and that is what we want to do.

“I had the opportunity to speak extensively with (CEO) Giorgio Furlani and (director) Zlatan (Ibrahimivoc), we have discussed a lot about all the dynamics this club and this situation. I think I have clear ideas and we have to be ready to make them happen.”

The Milan I want to see

Under no illusions of the challenges he is confronted with as Milan Sporting Director who has given a crisis-found campaign.

He said: “We have to start in the right way, there are many expectations: it has been a very long season with many disappointments. I also have this from outside

“We have to be clear about one thing: Milan is a club that you immediately ask for results, it is a club where you have to win. I realized this and I am ready to face it: we have to make sure that this happens, but with clear ideas. My role is important to offer the right strategies for the players and especially the young people, to play the space in this club.”

On the kind of Milan that he wants to see, Tare also said: “I want to see a team that sweats on the shirt, which is hungry and wants to win. I want San Siro to see that explodes with the joy of the fans. I will do everything, I will give everything to make this happen in the victories of this team.

“I feel very excited and fulfilled: I have realized a dream of many years. For me it means a lot, it means a lot.”
