James urges Chelsea to ‘go again’ after Conference League history

Reece James urged Chelsea to “go again” after they have written history by beating Real Betis 4-1 to win the Europa Conference League.

On the way to the goal of Abde Ezzalzouli in a matte first half shown in Wroclaw, the blues roared back while Cole Palmer Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson set up to run the game in five second minutes.

Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo then provided a victory in which Chelsea became the first team that won each of the champions, Europe and Conference competitions, and the first to win four UEFA tournaments, who had also lifted the now justified cup winners cup.

But they will dine at the top table in Europe next season after they qualified for the Champions League and captain James says that Chelsea should continue to claim.

“It's a great feeling. As the game progressed, we grew in it and luckily we scored four goals in the second half,” he said TNT Sports.

“We had to win in this competition. Next season we will go back to the Champions League.”

James was not selected to start the game for a Chelsea side that scored a match record 42 goals during the tournament.

The international English international said he just had to be ready to go for what the seventh European trophy of Chelsea is, a count only improved by Liverpool (nine) among the English parties.

“Of course it is devastating to know that you don't start in a final. I want to play every game, but it was the manager's decision,” he added.

“Once he had made the decision, I had to continue and accept and be ready when I was needed.”

The victory ends a point of 27 straight Spanish victories in the final of the world cups, European championships, Champions League and the UEFA Cup/Europa League with Spanish parties.

Defender Levi Colwill also came from the bank and the English International is enthusiastic for this team to challenge itself at a higher level.

“To be the first club that has won everything possible, you see the fans who are now celebrating, and it shows how much it means for them,” he said.

“The (last week) has been great. We have achieved everything we wanted to do. It feels great to win my first European competition with Chelsea, hopefully much more to go.

“And getting Champions League for next season, I don't think you can get better than that.”
