On 29 May, at a press conference by Al Nassr, sports director Fernando Hierro confirmed that the club has not yet made a decision about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
When he was asked about Ronaldo, Hierro said:
“We are still in negotiations with Cristiano and hope that we can find a solution for a contract extension.”
He added:
“Ronaldo's presence has been a project at national level from the start. He has been a football legend and has helped let the Saudi competition grow. His contract runs until the end of June, and of course we hope to renew it. We have contact with him about extending his stay, and we hope he will stay with our team.”
