All signs suggest that Matheus Cunha will become a member of Manchester United this summer, but there have been some hiccups in negotiations that are in danger of unraveling the transfer
Alan Shearer has expressed worries about the “rows” between Manchester United and Wolves about the potential transfer from Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford. For some time it has been indicated that the Brazilian international will come to United, but recent hiccups has arisen that can endanger the move.
The conversations accelerated this week after United had activated the £ 62.5 million release clause in Cunha's contract. Sky Sports, however, reported that the team of Vitor Pereira had rejected the offer of the Red Devils to split the payment for five episodes.
Ruben Amorim is braced to introduce his first summer transfer window in the United Helm with limited resources. And financing will certainly suffer after their defeat against Tottenham in the Europa League final, so that the club will not leave European football next season.
United must now sell certain players before they can afford to spend important amounts. And Newcastle's legend shearer evoked doubts about United's prospects to secure Cunha in the midst of recent developments.
“Whoever sells them, I don't know. If they have to raise money, they have a few options to do that,” he said Betfair. “It seems that the Cunha deal will happen, although I saw that there are rows in terms of how payments will be made.”
The Transferssaga seems to have taken a positive turn after United has agreed to increase the £ 62.5 million reimbursement in three payments over two years. Cunha is now ready to have his medical in Carrington, which makes it possible to mark United's most important acquisition of 2025.
The former RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid striker has an impressive record of 33 goals in 92 games for wolves and offers much needed versatility at the top. In the meantime, Shearer has warned that there is still a considerable amount of squadrest that is needed before United can dream to fight for a top-six finish.
He continued: “Man United needs an overhaul, but it will not happen in one or two transfer pendants and that is why as a player you have to think long and hard about it necessary or want to be because it will take two or three years to get somewhere near the levels to challenge the top six again.
“If funds will be tight because of PSR, then their assets are in [Alejandro] Garnacho and [Bruno] Fernandes may have to be sold to bring in money. Nothing surprises me with Man United more on or outside the field because they have been a shame for the past 12 months. “
Cunha himself dropped a big hint that he prepares to leave after apparently saying goodbye to his Wolves supporters. The official Instagram account of the club contained a clip of the Molineux Faithful Serenading The Star after their last match of the campaign, and Cunha's response to plans for departure.
“I can't thank you that much,” he wrote in the commentary. And many have interpreted his words as an indication that his term of office is approaching his conclusion.
Garnacho, 20, was placed on the transfer list after a fall -out with Amorim, which excludes him from the team that Aston Villa defeated on the last day of the season. There is Talk United striving for £ 70 million for the young person, although their negotiating position seems weak.
United will undoubtedly be enthusiastic to hold on to Captain Fernandes, who was reportedly on the radars of Barcelona and Real Madrid. In the meantime, a move to Saudi Aarabia now seems to be the most likely outcome if he would leave.
