Paris Saint-Germain will face Inter Milan in the final of the Champions League on Saturday evening, with politicians in the French capital who would like to support the city team
Eiffel tower heads will throw their support behind Paris Saint-Germain by illuminating the monument every time they score in the Champions League final. PSG is confronted with Inter Milan in Munich on Saturday evening for the chance to win the European Cup.
The side of Luis Enrique offers to win the competition for the first time, after he finished second in 2020. The Ligue 1 champions defeated Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the knockouts to reach the final.
If they beat Inter on Saturday, they will also seal the Treble, after they have gone to the French title and struck Reims in the final of the Coupe de France last week. They have already received permission to hold a parade on the Champs-Elyssee if they win the final.
And the Paris town hall throws their support behind the team in the structure and during the competition itself. Their plans revolve around the iconic Eiffel Tower of the capital of the capital.
The tower is lit in gold every night after sunset and shines the first five minutes of every hour, while a beacon over Paris is shining. Sometimes it is illuminated in other colors, such as the French flag and the colors of the Olympic Games.
Mayor Anne Hidalgo of Paris has now announced that she has granted permission for the tower to be illuminated in the blue and red of PSG during Saturday's final. It will also be illuminated every time PSG scores a goal.
A message of encouragement will also be displayed on the Eiffel Tower from Friday evening. Elsewhere in Paris, Billboards on the ring road near the Parc des Princes will show messages of support, with the mayor delighting to support the team.
“On Saturday everyone is behind PSG,” said Hidalgo. “After the titles of the French competition and Coupe de France, the whole of Paris is behind the players to win the Champions League!
“To support them, I decided to illuminate the Eiffel Tower in the colors of Paris and the club from Saturday evening. It will shine with every Paris goal. Paris has a date with football history.
“You make us dream! We count on you to make Paris shine! For Parisian fans, she can only hope that this final against Inter does not look like Bayern five years ago, where PSG did not score any goal.”
PSG fans have already hired the Eiffel Tower as their basis for this weekend's huge game. On Wednesday evening, a group of Ultras unfolded a banner and launched a fireworks on Du Trocadéro who looks at the tower.
The banner was “Born to Shine, Paris will light up”, with the group that was sparkling their Tower meeting when the Timing meeting. There was also a huge fireworks display with dozens of smoke bombs.
