Al-Nassr working on new deal for Ronaldo

Al-Nassr hopes to keep Cristiano Ronaldo, with negotiations that are undergoing a contract extension.

Ronaldo was out of contract with the Saudi Pro League club at the end of June.

The 40-year-old fed speculation about his future after the last match of Al-Nassr of the season on Monday, when he placed on social media: “This chapter is over. The story? Still written.”

Ronaldo's commentary on social media came after FIFA president Gianni Infantino proposed that Ronaldo could play in the club World Cup, despite the fact that Al-Nassr had not qualified.

In anticipation of the tournament, which starts on June 14, FIFA has introduced a short transfer window for clubs that play in the event to sign new players and open the door to a potential movement for Ronaldo.

Al-Nassr sports director Fernando Hierro, however, has confirmed that the club would like to keep the five-time balloon d'Or winner.

“Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr runs until 30 June. We will work to extend his contract so that he can continue with us, and there are many clubs that are interested in signing him,” here said a news conference.

“Ronaldo's presence from the start is a national project.

“Cristiano has opened football for the world in this country. It is phenomenal that he had the courage to come here, to stay here and to open the Saudi Aarabic League for the world.”

Al-Nassr's Pro League rivals Al-Hilal, which can be seen at the Club World Cup, are connected to Ronaldo, together with Botafogo and Wydad AC.

Ronaldo won the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for the second consecutive season with 25 goals, after he scored 35 times on the goals in 2023-24.

Since he made his debut for Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has scored more pro-competition goals than any other player, with 74 to his name.

The goals of Ronaldo come from a total expected goals (XG) of 67.07, on average every 90.62 minutes – the best ratio of each player in double digits in that wingspan.
