Al Nassr sporting director says they are working on new Cristiano Ronaldo deal

Al Nassr is negotiating with Cristiano Ronaldo about a contract extension, but are confronted with competition from a large number of clubs who would like to say the five-time balloon d'Or winner, the sports director of the Saudi side, Fernando Hierro, Thursday.

Speculation about the future of the 40-year-old Portuguese Forward was intensified after the seasonal match of Al Nassr on Al Fateh on Monday, with Ronaldo on social media: “This chapter is over. The story? Still written.”

“Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr runs until 30 June. We will work to extend his contract so that he can continue with us, and there are many clubs that are interested in signing him,” here said a press conference.

Despite the fact that already Nassr was not eligible for the World Cup club, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said last week that there were discussions about Ronaldo who played in the on 14 June to 13 July Tournament in the United States.

FIFA has made a special transfer window for clubs to sign players for the event, and while Wydad Casablanca was linked to a movement for Ronaldo, a source close to the Moroccan side last week told Reuters that they were not talking to sign him.

Ronaldo finished as a top scorer in back-to-back Saudi Pro League seasons and Hierro described him as a pioneer for Saudi football.

“Ronaldo's presence from the start is a national project,” said Hierro.

“Cristiano has opened football for the world in this country. It is phenomenal that he had the courage to come here, to stay here and to open the Saudi Aarabic League for the world.”
