Jesse Lingard reveals he had ‘no choice’ in joining Forest over West Ham

Jesse Lingard has revealed that he 'had no choice' to join Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022 about West Ham.

The former Manchester United star moved to West Ham on a six -month loan in 2021 – a year for his forest switch – and took nine goals in 16 games.

Despite playing the best football of his career at the Hammers, Lingard returned to Old Trafford for the 2021-2022 season.

He then left his boys' club at the end of that season when he expired.

With the memories of his impressive loan saying in the London Stadium, still fresh in the heads of other Premier League clubs, Lingard had a number of potential lovers to participate as a free agent.

But the ex-England international has now revealed that he had “in fact” control over “when he put his next career step on a row.

Lingard implied that he would have taken preference to go to West Ham, but explained that he could not express his opinion '.

“The forest agreement, when we went through it – and I don't want to go into too much detail – but I had no control over at that time,” he said BBC Sport.

“I actually had no choice. I knew what I wanted to do, I knew what offer on the table was from West Ham and what was offered from Forest – there was a place where I would rather go.

“But people have their own word and at that moment I didn't really feel that I could express my opinion.”

Lingard struggled in the city, with only 20 times before he was released in the summer of 2023.

Although he may not have had his way in terms of his earlier career decisions, Lingard argued that his move to Forest was a learning curve.

He added: 'Now I can see that people didn't have my best interests [at heart]. But it is clear that West Ham did not happen. I went to the forest.

“The forest thing happened for a reason, for me to find out certain things.”

Lingard, who spent 14 years at Boyhood Club Man United, now plays for FC Seoul in Zuid -Korea, after a surprise movement in February last year brought him to the club as a free agent.

Lingard had spent eight months without a club prior to his move to the Far East.

Lingard scored 10 goals and gave four assists in 42 performances for FC Seoul.
