PSG star Dembele focused on Champions League crown, not Ballon d’Or hopes

Ousmane Dembele says that his complete focus is on leading Paris Saint-Germain to the Champions League crown, instead of any individual success with a potential balloon d'Or prize.

The French International will want to inspire his side to their first trophy in the competition when they meet Inter on Saturday in Munich.

This season Dembele is directly involved in 12 Champions League objectives (eight goals, four assists), the most ever by a PSG player in one campaign.

Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2013-14 (10) scored more for PSG in a single campaign in the top competition of UEFA, and securing the coveted prize has suggested that Dembele would win the Ballon d'Or.

However, the former Barcelona attacker is not interested in those claims.

“If you are a PSG player, it is important to take the silverware home, such as the Champions League,” he said at his press conference for the competition.

“I am focused on the team, no individual trophies. IT [Ballon d’Or] Sit in mind, but I want to concentrate on the team. “

Dembele has 30 goals in all competitions, including a series of 24 in 18 games from December to March.

The impact of the 28-year-old has contributed to filling the void left by the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid last summer, together with previous outputs for Superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Dembele has also created 35 chances in this season's Champions League, the most by a French player since Jerome Rothen in 2003-04 (45).

His attacking nous will be the key to unlocking an interkant that this season that has only stayed behind 1.2% of their Champions League matches will remain in three games, but never more than 370 seconds in one.

“Since January we have really had a change in mindset and we want to continue now and win, and we are very enthusiastic about the game,” Dembele added.

“Inter is a wonderful team that deserves to be in the final. They are physical, know how to defend, how to get in advance, so we have a strong opponent.”

PSG has both won their most matches (10) and scored their most goals (33) in a single major European campaign this period.

An elusive First Champions League title, however, is the only award -winning moment that a great campaign can take out and Dembele's lifelong ambitions can fulfill.

“I prepared well for this final. Since I was a child, I dreamed of playing in this game,” he added.

“We have to stay focused at stake, in the team, on myself. I hope we can produce a fantastic performance.”
