‘I was valued three times as much when I was at Man Utd – now I’m a Champions League finalist’

Matteo Darmian arrived at Manchester United in 2015, and although his time was matte and his value has since been folded, he is now a Champions League finalist at Inter Milan

Matteo Darmian has endured a difficult time at Manchester United, although his falling transfer value did not prevent him from becoming a Champions League finalist at Inter Milan. The Italian right back was poached from Torino for a respectable £ 12.7 million in 2015, and he started his United career with an impressive 1-0 Premier League victory against Tottenham under Louis van Gaal.

He was named player of the club for that August. In the coming years, Darmian would prove himself as a reliable squadron player, who helps with the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League victories among different managers.

Although he was never entirely the first name on the team magazine, he has cured a respectable career in the Top-Flight as a versatile, solid option at Full-back.

Darmian left Old Trafford in 2019 and went back to his home country and Serie A with Parma. A year later, after a few solid trips, he joined Inter on -ASSLEEN, before he signed permanently at the end of that season.

Since then, Darmian has proven to be an underrated piece of Inter's continuous hunt for silverware and to win a few scudettos, three Italian super cups and two Coppa Italia trophies.

Now he has the opportunity to add the Champions League to that role of distinctions when Inter records on Saturday evening. But he will stand in line for the competition with his value enormously reduced from his time with the Red Devils.

When signing for United, Darmian was appreciated at £ 12.5 million, which was comparable to the compensation that United paid for him, according to Transfermarkt. This was abolished over time as the defender became parent and did not walk too much at Old Trafford. As a result, he was appreciated at £ 10 million in 2018.

When Darmian moved to Parma at the age of 30 in 2020, his value was £ 7 million. Just before his move to Inter, 31 years old, this fell to around £ 3 million. This sum is where the value of the Champions League finalist remains at the age of 35.

Darmian, however, will not be the only ex-sizing star that is part of Inter's showpiece-driven team, as the Henrikh Mkhiticyan will also be present in Munich.

The Red Devils bought the Armenian in 2016 for £ 26 million on the German side Borussia Dortmund, although his estimated value was £ 31 million at that time.

The shape of MKHitaryan in Old Trafford was sketchy, but he regularly played under Jose Mourinho before moving to Arsenal as part of the deal that Alexis Sanchez saw going in the opposite direction.

When he came to the Gunners, he was appreciated at £ 29 million, although this fell to £ 21 million the following year before he sealed a transfer to Roma. There his value would fall again, despite the fact that he won the Conference League.

By 2022, when he moved to Inter, he was valued at only £ 7 million. From this year, at the age of 36, the Armenian has a rating of only £ 3.3 million. Nevertheless, he has put together a brilliant collection of silverware during an impressive career, winning a Scudetto, the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, in addition to other awards.
